Can’t believe there are 10 year old Caymans. And 13k is officially within the highest price I’ve ever paid for a car (although I imagine the repair bills would still be higher).
Edit: looking at some more of them, I have the following takeaways:
- The interior looks like cheap VAG parts all around. Gross.
- The rear tires need to be a little wider to look “right”, IMO
- Who the fuck authorized a 5 speed on $60k sports car in 2008? My $18k Matrix seemed to have been able to afford the extra perk back in 2003, so it’s weird to see something like that be a “oh you have to upgrade to the fancy trim if you want an extra gear”. Don’t be dicks.
- other than that, I like it. Love the frunk.

If 10 year old Caymans are going for 13k, will 45 year-old 914-6's be $2k? How does it not work like this?

Why do you want an extra gear? Fuel economy? The five speed is the preferred box here. Even folks that go to the 3.2 engine in swaps in the 986/987 opt for the 5-speed.
Look at reviews for the 981 S...it has questionable ratios. It’s all second gear.

I really wish it worked like this

I’m hoping it’s a dealer accidentally mislabeling to turn off others who might have the same idea as me

Don’t forget the extra $1500 to add the quaife LSD, which is needed for such a car to be really great...

That car is at a pretty sweet age/miles/price/performance/size point. You know you would get $13k worth of smiles from it.
You should just do it......
